Vintage Gorham ATHENIC Sterling Silver 4-Piece Coffee / Tea Set, 1810 grams
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely 4-piece Gorham Sterling Silver coffee/tea service in the ATHENIC pattern with monogram "G B L". The design consists of two vertical five-lined bands extending down the body of each piece with matching lines on spouts of the two pots.
Around the shoulder area of each piece is a horizontal band engraved with Art Deco style design. There is a coordinating engraved band just above the base of each piece. (1) Sterling Silver Coffee Pot - Measures 11 3/8" high and 7 1/2" wide (from spout to handle).
Handle has slight play and needs to be tightened and there is a very faint (almost unnoticed) dent to the left of the monogram. (2) Sterling Silver Teapot - Measures 6" high and 8 1/2" wide. (3) Sterling Silver Creamer - Measures 5 1/2" high and 4 1/4" wide.
There is some detail loss on the engraved band above the base on this piece - no noted flaws (see photos). (4) Sterling Silver Open Sugar/Waste - Measures 3 1/2" high with a 4 3/4"-5 wide top (very slightly oval - out of round). This may actually be a "waste" bowl, however, it was being used as a sugar bowl by previous owner and works fine for this purpose.Combined weight of set is 1810 grams.
