This handsome antique three-piece tea service is meant for someone with the initial "B" as all pieces feature the ornate letter on one side. Made by Forbes Silver Company in the late 1800s, the silver plate set consists of a graceful lidded teapot, cream pitcher and open sugar bowl. The sugar bowl may have originally had a lid but I've never had it.
The graceful lines of the set are enhanced by ornate etching of florals on each piece plus heavily carved handles and spouts. The teapot, including finial, is just under 7" tall and about 8.25" across including handle and spout. The cream pitcher is 3.75" tall and 5.5" across including handle and spout. The sugar bowl is 3.75" tall and 6" across including both handles. The mark on the bottom says Forbes Silver Co.Forbes was one of the companies that joined together to form International Silver in 1898. The antique set has been used and shows some scratches and scuffs; there are dark spots inside the pieces. This item is in the category "Antiques\Silver\Silverplate\Tea/Coffee Pots & Sets".
