Victorian Meriden Silver Plate 5 Pc Art Nouveau Embossed Teaset English 16 Tray

This listing is for an embossed or repousse quadruple plate /silver plate teaset which was manufactured by the Meriden Britannia Silver Plate Company prior to 1913. The base is marked with Quadruple Plate which was discontinued in that year.

Also it doesnt have the International Silver Company makers marks to indicate it was made during the time that Meriden became part of IS in 1898. The set is exceptional featureing an art nouveau design with exceptional embossed or repousse design and lovely patina to accentuate the shine of the silver plate. There are no monograms or dents and the silver pate is shiny and bright. The inside of each piece is clean and usable. The tray as use marks but which can be polished out but a lovely Victorian Tray marked England which indicates that it is an earlier tray.

There is a large crest or family Heraldic motto on the front center which reads Probitate et Labore, translated means "Be Honest and Toil" in Latin. The English tray measures 16 inches wide with a saw tooth rim. There are no monograms or dents.

The tea set is lovely featuring a lovely detailed design and patina to accentuate the silver plate. The covers fit properly and therea are no monograms or dent. The teapot stands 6 inches tall and 9.5 inches wide, covered sugar stands 4.5 inches tall by 7 inches wide, waste pot stands 3.25 inches tall by 5 inches wide at the widest point and the creamer stands 3.25 inches tall by 5.25 Beautiful Victorian c1800's silver plate on the tea set with lovely patina and design. Tray measures 16 inches wide. Sawtooth rim with motto or family crest in the center.

Hard to read the motto as the tray may have been re silvered at one time.
