SIMONS STERLING TEA SET (2) c1890 RARE PHILADELPHIA SHOP. A very very rare, late 19th century. Hand decorated sterling silver partial tea service. The Philadelphia shop opened in 1840 as a maker of silver thimbles & pencils. Later crafted several "exclusive design" tea and coffee services.
Of which this set is an example. Acquired by Peter Krider in 1903. As such, tea wares from the Simons Bros. Never monogrammed to the visible body, underside with 1895 date initials.
This very rare, c1890 Simon's hand decorated sterling. Sugar bowl is 6 1/2 inches matching creamer 4 inches and the set 8 1/2 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown with Simon's S in shield. Retains original hand chased detail.
