Silverplate tea set teapot coffee servers tray Art Nouveau Kirby Beard ca. 1900

  

Offered is this lovely Art Nouveau silverplate tea set made in England by Kirby Beard & Co. The set is comprised of a teapot with hinged lid and two coffee servers with hinged lids, plus a cream pitcher and covered sugar bowl with lid. All are displayed on a two-handled serving tray of the same pattern. This set was made in England for sale in the company's flagship store in Paris. The pattern features vertical ribs in the lower half of the hollow ware pieces with a wide smooth band encircling the mouth, above the vertical ribs.

We surmise the smaller coffee server was designed to serve espresso or other after-dinner demitasse coffee. The serving tray measures 26.25 inches (63 cm) from handle to handle.

The teapot measures 7.5 inches high (19 cm). The larger coffee pot stands 9.75 inches tall (25 cm). The demitasse coffee pot measures 8.5 inches tall (21.5 cm). These silverplate pieces have black composite handles.

These item are in good condition for their years. The tray shows some incidental scratches as you can see in the photo showing the center surface. The teapot and coffee servers show some wear around the wide band below the mouth. The item will be insured.
