Silverplate Tea Set Teapot By Albert Frederic Saunders Modernistic For Benedict
Silverplate Tea Set by Albert Frederic Saunders - "Modernistic" Line for Benedict. It's easy to see why this teapot has a place at the Dallas Museum of Art, and other pieces of this design reside at the Brooklynn Museum and Yale University Art Gallery. It's difficult to find examples of the full set that is presented here.
Created in 1928 by American designer Albert Frederic Saunders for the T. Benedict Manufacturing Company, this tea set is electro-plate nickel silver with Brittania metal mounts (EPNS BMM). The handles are listed as both plastic and Bakelite. The set was well-kept and is in amazing condition for its age with minimal wear, some small nicks on the edges, and the handles and knobs do show surface crackling.
It has small areas of tarnish as it has not been polished. Still, the set presents beautifully, a perfect blend of timeless design, style and functionality.
