Finest quality antique French Sterling Silver Tea & Coffee set, with exuberant Louis XV rococo styling, by Gustave Odiot. This complete 4-piece set comprises a Teapot , Coffee Pot , covered Sugar Bowl , and Cream Jug with twist fluted bodies enhanced by chased rocaille borders, and each piece featuring an asymmetrical cartouche (monogrammed "HC") framed by an extraordinary, richly detailed large border of repoussé and chased rocaille, floral, scroll, ferns, and cascading water motifs.

The coffee pot and cream jug have striking 18th century style duck bill spouts, and both the jug and sugar bowl have rich vermeil (18K gold on silver) interiors. Very finely crafted from the highest quality silver, each piece is stamped with the French Minerve 1st standard silver mark. 950 , and maker's mark and signature for famed 19th century silversmith Gustave ODIOT.

And, each piece is numbered. Gustave Odiot, who succeeded his father Charles-Nicolas in 1865, received the largest order ever placed with the House of Odiot - 3,000 pieces of solid gold flatware for Saïd Pacha, the Viceroy of Egypt, and was purveyor by appointment to the court of His Imperial Majesty the Tsar. He was the last member of the Odiot family to direct the company. Founded in 1690, the House of Odiot first gained notoriety during the reign of Louis XV with Jean-Baptiste Gaspard Odiot, one of the finest silversmiths of his time.

Today, the House of Odiot is proud of its exceptional heritage, marked by encounters with great historical figures, and can draw on an unparalleled collection of patterns, moulds and drawings, constituted from the prestigious orders taken over the centuries. Professionally cleaned by our Parisian silversmith, this magnificent set is in excellent condition with just light signs of use to note, and the vermeil is very well preserved.
