KENNARD & JENKS STERLING TRAY c1875 PERSIAN MANNER A fine and very rare, c1875 Kennard & Jenks tray for serving afternoon tea in the Persian taste. Lewis Jenks work for Bigelow Brothers & Kennard, the firm who retailed this Persian tray. He left in 1872 opening his own shop, quickly becoming the leading silver designer in Boston.
In 1875 Kennard & Jenks was formed, known for making the only Boston silver in the prized Japanese taste. Jenks left in 1879 to work for Gorham, who eventually bought the entire firm in 1880. This nearly 150 year old Kennard & Jenks Persian style tray for afternoon. Tea is 24 inches across handles and bit under 15 inches wide. And weighs 81 standard ounces.
