Indian Silver Tea Set c1890 INSECT MEDALLION & COBRA
INDIAN SILVER TEA SERVICE c1890 INSECTS & COBRA This is a very fine and rare c1890 Indian silver hand crafted tea service. The set features beautifully hand raised series of insects, set within circular frame and flower head. Insect theme Indian colonial silver is unheard of.
In forty years collecting, this is the only example we have observed. The service also displays raised diety finial and satin hand chased coiled cobra handles. This rare c1890 Indian silver insect medallion teapot is 10 1/2 inches handle to spout. The complete set weighs 24 standard ounces.The precise work shop in Madras unknown to us. Retains original hand carved detail. Shallow bump to insect closest to spout, when handle in facing you on the left.
