The pattern is Gorham's A6421 - very rare. In fact, an entire web site is devoted to attempting to identify this pattern. Shaped oval with panel center, feathered leaf vine scroll and suspended floral. Scroll framed medallion at four corners, never monogrammed. Nor has center been monogrammed.
Cast twin shell crown and shell accented handles. The design is similar to Chantilly-Grand, however. Much more elaborately chased and decorated.
This 1917 Gorham sterling hand decorated tea tray is 29 1/2 inches. Across handles and 17 inches wide. And it weighs 125 standard ounces.
