GORHAM STERLING TEA SET 1872 GREEK REVIVAL This is a rare, 1872 date code Gorham sterling silver tea service in the sought after Greek Revival manner. Beautifully engraved royal crest & motto. The 1872 teapot features richly cast portrait cartouches of Persephone & Hades, framed by harvest motif and joined by hand engraved leaf and berry on satin.

Handle with raised mask of Demeter and draped veil accented spout with yet another portrait. The cover retains the original seated, spread wing putto, secured by the original U-handle fastener below.

Gorham 1872 Greek Revival sterling teapot is 10 inches tall. And the complete set weighs 67 standard ounces. The teapot interior clean as if little or never used.
