GORHAM SILVER WATER PITCHER c1859 PRESIDENT LINCOLN MARK A very fine and rare, c1859 Gorham silver hand decorated water pitcher. The presentation pitcher bears one of the most rare of all Gorham hallmarks.

It is stamped " 390 lion facing left COIN ", and is referred to as the President Lincoln mark. So called, because it is found on a monumental presentation tea service owned by President and Mrs. Now displayed in the Smithsonian Institute.

See page 229 in Carpenter for illustration and discussion. Period engraved monogram as shown. This rare c1859 Gorham silver pitcher with the Lincoln hallmark is 11 inches tall. At handle and weighs 27 1/2 standard ounces. The identical hallmark illustrated in Carpenter page 229.
