GORHAM SILVER TEA SET c1863 EGYPTIAN REVIVAL (2) A fine c1863 Civil War period Gorham silver partial tea service, consisting of a covered sugar bowl and matching cream jug. In the Egyptian Revival manner.

The set bears one of Gorham's most rare hallmarks, the lion facing right hallmark. During the American Civil War. Of course, during this time the shop's production was significantly limited.

The identical mark illustrated in Carpenter page 229. Script monogram for the original owner, might be MPB? This c1865 Civil War period Gorham silver sugar bowl is 5 1/2 inches across. Handles, the cream jug 4 1/2 and set weighs bit over 20 standard ounces. Cream jug small bump below rim.
