This silver service was a wedding gift to my grandparents who married in January of 1918. Each of the 4 pieces of the silver service is marked with Gorhams early trio of pseudohallmarks (LAG) and STERLING. The coffee pot, sugar bowl, and creamer are also marked with a scimitar, the Gorham date mark for 1917. The teapot is marked with an axe, the Gorham date mark for 1916. The pieces of the service bear the following additional marks. Coffee pot - 2 3/8 PINT; A2441; & D16. Teapot - 2 PINT; A2442; & 135.Sugar bowl - A2443 & 174; sugar cover - D174 & STERLING. Creamer - 5/8 PINT; A2444; & D34.
The coffee set is monogrammed with a gothic B. It is in pretty good estate condition, although. With the patina of old tarnish and fine scratches to be expected with age and use. The finial on the sugar is slightly crooked and deformed.
