Absolutely gorgeous & rare antique Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era Continental. 800 (nearly sterling) silver 4pc coffee & tea set, a comprehensive service including the taller coffee or hot water pot, tea pot, covered sugar bowl or caddy and creamer, all with an elegant & ornate Louis XV or rococo styling with scrolled tendrils & floral accents in deep bas relief, rocaille accented spouts & handles and all in wonderful condition! Aren't these simply fabulous!

A complete 4pc set and as beautifully French as can be with a subtle, elegant rococo style and all beautifully preserved. 800 silver, too, made to last and as ornate as one could hope for. The four pieces have a total weight of 67 troy ounces or 2085 grams. Of German origins, all bear the crescent moon, crown and "800" markings on the bases. In 1884, a law was enacted in Germany making.

800 (80% pure) the minimum national standard for silver. In 1886, the use of individual city marks was abolished and replaced by the national mark (Reichsmark) of a crescent moon & crown mark representing the entire German state. These marks became compulsory by 1888 and often included a silversmith mark of some sort though I dont see one on any of these pieces. Prominent German silversmiths of the time included Wilhelm Binder c. 1869-90s, Bruckmann & Sohne c.

It appears our silver polisher missed a few spots so Ill look them over more closely while polishing to see if I can spot a silversmith mark and add if so. A simply marvelous set, rare to find a complete 4pc service with such a timeless and elegant pattern or style!

There are a few small dimples here and there, nothing large though and no repairs that I can see. The handles on the sugar and creamer are solid silver while the handles on the coffee & tea pots are hollow (but thick & heavy also). There are some signs of tarnish in our images, sorry about that, we'll be sure to polish them up beautifully before sending out to their new hope.
