FRENCH STERLING TEA SET CUP & SAUCER c1895 JAPANESE MANNER. A very fine and rare, late 19th century French sterling (950 pure) tea cup and matching saucer. Decorated in the Japanese taste. From the Paris shop of Edouard Clerc, listed at 7 rue Pastourelle, Paris. Beautiful period engraved royal coat arms and motto.

Both tea cup and saucer with bright cut engraved streaming leaf and floral. With long sweeping vine, and cat-o-nine tails.

Cast streaming leaf tip on satin decorated tapering C handle. This late 19th century French sterling (950 pure).

Tea cup is 4 1/4 inches. From handle to rim and the saucer 5 1/2 and. The complete set 7 1/2 standard ounces. Small, barely noted line edge of saucer rim.
