DURHAM SILVERSMITHS STERLING TEA SET c1950 HAND CHASED A fine mid century Durham sterling silver Georgian style tea service. The New York firm listed in the 1950s. Their mark is not often observed. In tapering urn form with hand chased shell and feathered vine framed shield, set within flower head, shell and vine on satin background. Georgian inspired petal gadroon edge cover retains the original pomegranate finial. Leaf cap paneled spout with sweeping leafy accents. Leaf and flower crowned double scroll handle. This mid century Durham hand decorated teapot is 10 inches and the complete set weighs 51 1/2 standard ounces.

Satin panel engraved Gothic M for the oiriginal owner. Rich sterling patina and the entire set retains original detail.
