DURGIN STERLING TEA SERVICE c1910 HAND HAMMERED We are pleased to offer this turn of the century William B. Durgin sterling silver all over hand hammered four piece Art Deco tea service. In the late 1840s William B. Durgin apprenticed to Newell Harding, in Boston He opened his tiny shop in 1853, a spoon maker.
He would fill a canvas satchel and in a horse drawn cart, sell hand made spoons door to door. By the turn of the century, his work shop was crafting fine tea wares such as this hammered surface set. Period engraved Art Deco style initials EF for the original owner.
This Durgin sterling all over hand hammered Art Deco teapot is 10 1/2 inches. From handle to spout and the complete set about 54 standard ounces. Bailey Banks & Biddle Co. Teapot interior clean as if little used.
Retains original hand carved detail throughout. Rich sterling patina inside and outside. Original handle secure, covers close flush.
