Offered is an exquisitely crafted antique coin silver 4 piece tea service in a Rococo Revival style engraved with a military dedication to a Lieutenant of the Third National Guard, dated 1852. Made by Gideon Peck, Jr - a silversmith listed at 77 Duane Street in the 1850 New York jeweler's directory. Each piece is stamped G. Peck Jr to the underside of the foot. Beautiful hand chased and repousse work depicting grapes, leaves, and vines decorate the classical footed vase forms - the height of fashion in the 1850's.

The set comprises: one large scale teapot, one covered sugar vase, one (rare) covered creamer, and one matching waste bowl. Crawford by the members & Exempt members of the Third National Guard as a memento of their admiration & regard for him as an Officer, Companion, & Friend. Creamer, Sugar, and waste bowl inscribed.

3rd C N G to Lieut. Please see our photos for marks and condition. Teapot, creamer, and covered sugar vase are water tight with no leaks. Sugar vase lid fits snugly. The pieces exhibit clear evidence of use as expected from a pre owned antique item of this vintage, including: patina, light surface scratches, wear to engraving, and a few minor dings here and there.

A few of the grapes on the waste bowl have worn through from 175 yrs of polishing. Teapot: 11" h x 6" dia (781g). Sugar pot: 9.25" h x 5" dia (574g). Creamer: 8"h x 4.25" dia (425g). Waste bowl - 5.25" h x 5.5" dia.
