C1870 American Aesthetic Silverplate 3-Piece Coffee Tea Set/ Stag Heads & Sphinx
The pieces include a large coffee urn (12" tall X 9 7/8" across from handle to spout), a teapot (6 1/2" tall X 9 3/4" across from handle to spout), and a covered sugar bowl (6" tall X 6 3/4" from handle to handle). Interestingly, one of the pieces, the teapot is marked,'REDFIELD & RICE. The covered sugar bowl is marked'SIMPSON, HALL & MILLER', and the large coffee urn is unmarked as to the maker. The only mark on the bottom of this piece is the number 2000. The pieces have fabulous design. The stag heads and legs are beautifully cast as are the Egyptian sphinx finials. One piece, the teapot is engraved, K. Ill (I believe this is an abbreviation for Kankakee, Illinois), By his pupils, Jan'y 28, 1870. Good antique condition, as pictured.
Some light wear and some small dents, particularly around the edges of the lids. Replaced wrapping on the spout of the coffee urn. Also, coffee urn is missing the burner insert.
