A stunningly beautiful Sheffield Victorian Louis Rococo pattern antique Silver Plated Tea set. Hallmarked for famed Martin & Hall silversmiths, the set dates to the 1860s. The set includes teapot, sugar basin and cream jug. All three are marked on bottoms with M H & Co. Also S G, g, and fourth not sure, all in separate cartouches and all with other individual markings or symbols.
The baluster shaped teapot is decorated with raised floral motifs and S and C scrolls, reminiscent of Rococo silver work... Elaborately embossed body depicting flowers, leaves, shells and swirls and resting on a detailed gallery foot.
The finial features a bird on a flower cluster. The spout has a particularly eye catching head motif which completes the overall design of this coffee pot. The cream jug and sugar basin are decorated with the same motifs. They are all without monograms or presentation engravings. Very minor wear on outsides, plating is excellent, some wear to insides as to be expected.. The teapot is approx 9" tall, and 11" wide from spout tip to width of handle. The ream jug is 6 1/2" tall, 5" wide and the sugar basin is 8" wide 5 1/4" tall. Please view each photo as they show exact condition.
