Old, Antique 1880's Victorian Era. COOPER BROTHERS Silverplate 5 Piece. Elegant Floral Hand Engraved (Hand Chased) TEA & COFFEE SERVICE Set. Both a tall Coffee Pot (9" tall) and short Teapot (5.5" tall from base to top of finial) with black ebony handles- both lids open on a hinge and have screws attaching the finials to lids. Open Waste Bowl (used to discard old tea leaves). Double handled open Sugar Bowl Dish. Each piece has floral engraving done on BOTH sides with open space for monogramming- NO monogram inside any of the open cartouche spaces. The original Cooper Brothers tray was badly damaged and unusable... I substituted a Round Silverplate tray with a floral design- rests on 4 "scrolled" design feet- made by Poole- measures 17.75 diameter. (If you do not want the tray, that is fine, but I thought the set looks elegant when presented/displayed on a tray for a coffee or tea party gathering or function). FLAWS: Tray is NOT original to the set, small ding seen on one side of both coffee and tea pots (see photo), some silverplating (silver finish loss) seen in random places on each piece (around base rim, ect)- these areas look black- some discolor/staining seen inside the pots and bowls. I did polish this set, but you could probably polish this again to make it shine like a mirror once you get it home.
I included an old photo of a Cooper Brothers advertisement as a fun historical reference. Base of each piece is fully hallmarked.
