Antique Gorham Sterling Silver Tea Set Asian Aesthetic Insect Finials 4P 1890

  

Rare antique Gorham sterling silver aesthetic movement tea set with 2 hinged lid pots, cream pitcher and covered sugar bowl. The finials on the 3 covered pieces are figural moths. Handles and spouts have naturalistic stalks and flowers and there is a ribbed detail at the body top of each piece. The creamer and sugar bowl have same mark with number 361 E.

Smaller teapot also has CROSBY & MORSE stamp for retailer as well as the Gorham hallmark and number 360. Larger teapot with Gorham hallmark and letter F. The Crosby & Morse mark is only on small pot, Gorham mark and STERLING on all pieces. All 4 pieces have the same large entwined script monogram on front with the letters "RA". Larger pot is 7" high and 10" wide, and smaller is 5-1/2" high and 8" wide.

Set weighs approximately 1500 grams or 3.2 lbs. There are some small dings and dents, probably largest is on back side of large teapot, but they are shallow and do not detract. The hinges on both pots are very good and all lids fit flush. All handles and spouts very good with no damage or repairs.
