This is a stunning tea and coffee service by Boston Silversmiths Jones, Ball & Poor. The set is made of Coin Silver, and dates from between 1846 and 1850.
The pieces are marked with the maker's mark, city of manufacture, and coin silver hallmark. The set is amazingly detailed, and is incredibly ahead of its time in terms of style. Despite dating from the mid-1800s, the design is very like repoussé that came into fashion later that century. The pieces are decorated with nasturtium flower buds, blossoms and leaves. Some of the handles feature bands of white bone for further decoration.
The cartouche on the face of each piece is etched with a stylized dog, likely a family crest or emblem. The combined weight for all pieces is 146.25 Troy ounces. The pieces included in the set are the following.. Hot Water Kettle with Detachable Stand - Excellent vintage condition with only light wear consistent with age and use.
