This service comprises: a teapot, a coffee pot, sugar bowl and cream/milk jug. The service has an applied, cut-card decoration to the lower half of each piece. This form of decoration is indicative of the highest quality and considered superior to other forms of decoration such as chasing and engraving.
There are several other attentions to detail that stand this set out from the crowd - just look at the way the heat resistant ebony handles have been fittted to the tea and coffee pots with an additional scroll in silver at the top. Furthermore, the interiors of the cream jug and sugar bowl are gilt (gold-washed). The set has a proper coffee pot with long spout from the base of the body (not a pouring lip at the top) and both pots pour beautifully.
