Scottish Sterling Tea Set 1890 Thomas Smith Zodiac
SCOTTISH STERLING TEA SET 1890 ZODIAC - NO MONOGRAM A fine and rare 1890 Scottish sterling silver tea service. Completely hand decorated with Persian or Indian influenced signs of the Zodiac. From the well regarded Glasgow work shop of Thomas Smith. Smith opened his doors in 1881 working till 1895.
Most all of this time listed with his son. This set bears his individual mark, not often observed. Thomas Smith Zodiac teapot is 9 1/2 inches.
From handle to spout and the complete set is 37 standard ounces. Appears little used after more than 140 years. Few very tiny dinks to teapot shield.
