RARE CHINESE WILLOW PATTERN STERLING SILVER TEA SET T. Rare Sterling Silver Willow Pattern. By Thomas Smily, London 1868 for Elkington. On offer here is this rare and quite superb Sterling silver tete-a-tete or batchelor tea set repousse decorated in Chinese willow pattern and made for Elkington - Liverpool by the renowned London silversmith; Thomas Smily in 1868. This diminutive setting comprises a bullet shape teapot with insulated handle, angular spout and hinged lid together with a matching creamer, a sugar basin and a pair of sugar nips.
Each piece is hallmarked for London 1868. And stamped with the makers mark of T. Within a cartouche of co-joined circles. Additionally they are engraved with the retailer's name of; Elkington - Liverpool. Teapot; 4¾:" (12 cm) high x 3½" (9 cm) diameter, Sugar basin; 1¾" (4.5 cm) high x 3½" (9 cm) diameter, Creamer; 3¾" (9.4 cm) high and Tongs 4¼" (10.5 cm) long.
