GORHAM STERLING TRAY 1923 - MAINTENON PATTERN - 170 OUNCES. A monumental 1923 date code Gorham sterling silver tray.
In the firm's Maintenon pattern. The pattern was introduced c1920. Inspired by Marquise de Maintenon, a favorite of King Louis XIV. The tray in classic oval form with streaming leaf and berry border.
In the French Empire taste. Opulently hand decorated with flower crown twin vine and cornucopia medallion. Interrupted by flowing vine and center oval.
Twin acanthus framed C shape handles rising from feathered vine. This monumental 1923 Gorham sterling silver Maintenon tea serving. Tray is 29 inches across handles and 19 across and weighs 170 standard ounces.
