Cover retains the original cast standing lion supporting shield finial, much like that illustrated in Carpenter page 67. Though the standing example offered today, is far more unique than the reclining one in the text. The spout displays the largest of all the mask, a Nordic, heavily bearded man with flowing ribbon and cat-o-nine tail crown. Handle with scarf and necklace framed classic maiden. The set has never been monogrammed. This 1868 Gorham sterling Neo-classical teapot is 11 inches tall. And the set weighs just under 70 standard ounces. Interior of the teapot clean as if little or never used. Hint of original gold interior to cream jug.
