English Sterling Tea Set 1872 Frederick Elkington
ENGLISH STERLING TEA SET 1872 FREDERICK ELKINGTON A very fine and rare 1872 British sterling gilt (gold wash) breakfast tea service in the Aesthetic taste. From the shop of Frederick Elkington, perhaps the most important Birmingham silversmith of the day. Examples of his found in major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert and more.
Period engraved family crest of seated hound. This English sterling gilt teapot is 7 1/2 inches handle to spout. And the complete set weighs 31 1/2 standard ounces. Appears little, if ever used.
