American Silver Tea Set c1850 Jones Ball & Black
AMERICAN SILVER TEA SET c1840 HAND CRAFTED - 70 OUNCES. An elegant, mid-19th century American silver three piece tea service.
The interior and under the base of each part of the set with thousands of spot hand hammer marks. This illustrates the 19th century, hand crafting of the tea set. The design much like that of Jones, Ball & Black of Boston and other silver work shops of the day.
Raised inverted pear shape, smooth finish. The shoulder and skirt with satin finish scrolling leaf decoration.The well hinged cover retains the original satin surface leaf framed bud finial. Tapering arched swan's neck spout, smooth finish. Rolled tip vine crown C shape handle.
This mid-19th century American silver teapot is 11 1/2 inches handle. To spout and just under 10 inches tall and the set weighs 70 standard ounces. Tests silver coin purity (900) or higher.
