Perhaps, the most interesting aspect of this tea service is that the design is cross-cultural, depicting a combination of styles that include parts of India, Burma (Myanmar), and Malaysia.
When the tea set was created in 1888, these countries were part of the British Empire. There are also elements of design from China and Mongolia, Nepal, and Siam, which were never colonized by England. The wide, center band of each piece has ten cartouches.
Each cartouche is edged with ornamental scrollwork, and each encases a different allegorical figure or deity in a dance, meditative, or possibly warlike pose. Professionally cleaned, this museum quality tea set is in excellent condition. For its age with some very minor signs of use with no cracks, or holes. There are some very minor and insignificant dings on the bottom edge of (only) the teapot. There are also a few small "smudges".
Please, look closely at the images. There is a small dent in the lower part of the design on the handle of the teapot (Image 8). There is a very slight wiggle at the bone insulators connections of the handle. All in all, this tea set is in very good condition.
