3-Piece Sterling Silver Tea Service. This tea set is a fine example of artwork created in repousse and chasing. Made by Hamilton & Inches , Edinburgh, Scotland, U. All three pieces are fully hallmarked on the bottom with 5 stamps in a cross pattern.

Height 4 1/2 (11.43 cm). Overall length including spout and handle 8 1/4 (20.96 cm). Including spout and handle 4 1/4 (10.80 cm).

Diameter (widest) 4 (10.16 cm). Height 2 3/4 (6.96 cm). Teapot 14.625 oz (414.612 g).

Creamer 3.5 oz (99.223 g). Sugar Bowl 4.25 (120.486 g). Perhaps, the most interesting aspect of this tea service is that the design is cross-cultural, depicting a combination of styles that include parts of India, Burma (Myanmar), and Malaysia.

When the tea set was created in 1888, these countries were part of the British Empire. There are also elements of design from China and Mongolia, Nepal, and Siam, which were never colonized by England. The wide, center band of each piece has ten cartouches.

Each cartouche is edged with ornamental scrollwork, and each encases a different allegorical figure or deity in a dance, meditative, or possibly warlike pose. Professionally cleaned, this museum quality tea set is in excellent condition. For its age with some very minor signs of use with no cracks, or holes. There are some very minor and insignificant dings on the bottom edge of (only) the teapot. There are also a few small "smudges".

Please, look closely at the images. There is a small dent in the lower part of the design on the handle of the teapot (Image 8). There is a very slight wiggle at the bone insulators connections of the handle. All in all, this tea set is in very good condition.

The Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council is a not-for-profit organization established in 1905, to honor excellence in the field of design and craftsmanship in British jewellery, goldsmithing, silversmithing, and allied trades. In addition to awards won by Hamilton & Inches craftspersons in previous years, the 2019 Goldsmiths' Silver Award in Senior Engraving went to H&I engraver, Dario Batzella, for his impressive design and creation of an interactive, "perpetual calendar": A disk calendar spanning 50-years.

A turn of a large amethyst center dial set in a stylized, sterling thistle reveals the day of the week for any date from 2020 to 2070 (with replacement disks made of sterling silver for an additional 300 years). Hand crafted of maple and silver, and etched with two Pagan Gods, The Oak King and the Holly King, congratulations are in order to Mr. Batzella and H&I on this achievement.
