Exceptional c 1929 Legacy ART DECO. Silverplate Coffee and Tea Service by 1847 Rogers Brothers (International Silver Company) Rare 5-piece service includes coffee pot, tea pot, sugar bowl, creamer and waste holder. Waste holder may be used for teabags, sugar cubes or jam. Knobs on top of the lids are also silverplate. Creamer and waste holder are gold washed on the interior. Light ebony trim on the coffee and tea pot handles. All pieces bear an etched H.

Coffee and tea pots have hinged lids. Sugar basin has a removable lid. All pieces are marked on the base: "Legacy, 1847 Rogers Bros, EPNS" plus series number and encircled IS. Item heights and serial numbers are below: Coffee pot 008806 and #179; 8 1/4" high Tea pot 008807 and #11; 6 1/4" high Sugar 008808; 4 1/2" high Creamer 008809; 3 1/4" high Waste 008810; 3 high Service Weight: 5 lb 9 oz The service is in terrific condition. The tea pot has some silverplate wear to the inside of the handle from use over the years (see photo 10).

Very light wear on the base of pieces. In November 1862, an agreement was made with Meriden Britannia. For Asa, Simeon, and William Rogers to oversee production of Meridens. This was the first year that 1847" was used with "Rogers Bros.

Years later in 1898 Meriden Britannia including 1847 Rogers Bros. Became part of the International Silver Company (IS).
